2002 Runway to
the Fashionable 4 |
| |
It is still
one of the more entertaining competitions, highlighted by
the emergence of Davidson’s Bob McKillop in the
Fashionable 4. While McKillop’s run came to end, Rice’s
Willis Wilson finally claimed the title of America’s most
stylish.
Wilson, who defeated defending champion Bruiser Flint in
the final, had advanced to the Fashionable 4 in each of
the previous four seasons, but had come up short every
time.
Marist assistant Steve Sauers, the George Hamilton of
college basketball, used his tan and a little help from
Dave Magarity to run the table in the under study field.
Sauers lost to Wofford’s Mike Young in the 2001 fashion
finale.
